Orlando Regatta Report A total of 18 boats were entered and 30 heats were sailed, 18 on Saturday and 12 on Sunday. Early Saturday the winds were from the southwest at 8-10 knots with gusts that provided for a great windward leg for the first 10 heats forcing the skippers to tack 6 to 8 time to get to the mark. Then the winds shifted to the west but still providing for a challenging windward leg. All heat were sailed on a triangle course, twice around plus a windward leg to the finish. John Bottensek let everyone know that the Orlando Regattas are his domain by winning the first 6 heats he sailed, and won 10 of his 16 heats. Joe Walter made a run at him taking 7 firsts. Racing was very competitive in the center of the fleets often with 4 or more boats trying to get around a mark. Results
