Orlando/Deland Regatta Report
Bob Brown comes from behind to win Gold Fleet
Skip Miller was impressive in his first R/C regatta

By Bill Gale, Sept 8-9, 2007

With changing winds that made for great racing, the Orlando Model Yacht Club, presented the 2007 September Regatta of the Florida EC-12 Association at the Vectoria Park Development in Deland Florida. A total of 26 skippers participated using the Florida EC-12 Association's two fleet system. The lengthy windward-leeward course along with the changing wind in both direction and force, resulted in numerous position changes and quite often the winner of one race ended up last the next race.

In the Gold Fleet, no one won more then two of the 12 races sailed. In the end, Bob Brown bested Bob Dudinsky by 3 points, who bested Brett Biwer by 3.

In the Silver Fleet, sailing in the same environment, resulted differently. Skip Miller won half of the 12 races sailed but was being pushed by Tony Rieck for the first eight races. Skip with 2 firsts and 2 seconds in the last four races resulted in a 10 point win. The final fleet results are shown below:
