Orlando Regatta Report
Perkins wins by avoiding a trip to B-fleet

By Bill Gale

Thanks to the other Orlando model yacht club, the SundaySloopers, we finally found a venue in Orlando that could handle the large fleet ofEC-12s the Florida Association has created. The 29th annual Orlando Regatta was back on the schedule and sailed May 13 and 14.

Blessed with 3-8 knots of wind with varying directions, provided for ideal EC-12 sailing, except for the 92 degree temperature. A total of 19 skippers competed in 10 Promotion and Relegation - low point races.

Alan Perkins won the first race and could not be caught, even though he did not win another. Tony Rieck, Richard Hedderick, Robert Greer, and Joe Walter were in tight completion for second as shown in the final standings below.

A special thanks to my race committee of Darrell Krasoski, Bruce Birnbach, Kris Simons, Jack Myers, and Don Forbecker.
